Thai Fruits
Thailand's climate has blessed it with more than thirty different types of fruit. The most notable fruit is the durian, of which there are four varieties. The smell is so pungent that it is frequently banned from hotels and lifts, however the creamy flesh inside is delicious.
Parts of the banana plant are used in local dishes and the leaves are used for packing fresh fruits. The fruit that most typifies the Chiang Mai valley is the longan, in whose favour a festival is held in Lamphun in August.
