Monks Cowl State Forest and Injasuti

The most unspoilt area of the Drakensberg and very popular with those who wish to get away from commercial development.

Consequently at Monks Cowl there is only a camping and caravan site with caves used in the higher reaches of the forest.

This area is the most popular in the Drakensberg and outside the park there is a wide selection of accommodation. The foothills here have a great many caves and were very popular with the San. 'Battle Cave' depicts a battle between two San tribes.

Injasuti

From eNjesthuti - a well fed dog - the profusion of game in the area ensured that the dogs used by the hunters never went hungry. The small camp looks out onto Monk's Cowl, Cathkin and Champagne Castle. There are well equipped chalets and a camping site. Book at KwaZulu Wildlife.
