Nyala was the first privately owned game ranch in Natal and pioneered many new concepts including uplifting the local community through the manufacture and sale of curios from the ranch. There is a variety of roads for game viewing and accompanied day walks, night drives/walks and horse trails are offered. The ranch is well known for its environmental courses for schoolchildren which include conservation, game ranging and hunting.

There are three camps, two of which offer rondavel accommodation with meals taken at a camp fire and a third that offers rustic accommodation in an area of the ranch not allowed for other visitors.
