The Website Design Process

We develop websites that perform. We believe that marketing websites should occupy top search positions and be usable to international standards

To create the best quality website, it's development must be seamless. We accept commissions on the understanding that there is a dynamic relationship between ourselves and yourselves.

The Client's Responsibility

You need to provide us with all the information that we require to develop your website - good quality logo, paginated text and clearly marked images and other associated documents (e.g. pdfs).

Our Responsibility

We use our skills and expertise to develop a website that generates revenue long into the future and of which you will be proud.

Procedure

  1. Payment of the deposit indicates acceptance of our terms and conditions (here).
  2. Once accepted, a date 30 days hence is set as the completion deadline date for the completion of the website and communicated to the client. At this date, the website will be regarded as complete and all fees are due and payable. Content received after this date will attract a late submission fee at our discretion.
  3. A 'development window' of consultant hours necessary to complete the website will also be allocated and development time will be logged off these hours.
  4. A second date - the 'content submission date' is automatically set 14 days prior to the deadline date. This is the date by which all content for the website must be received by ourselves. All content must be in digital form. Content (either new or edits to that previously submitted) received between this date may attract a late submission fee, will be added to the consultant hours allocated and may affect the final completion date.

A draft homepage will be developed using any content already supplied by the client or dummy content. This will be uploaded to a staging server for the client's comments.

After these have been received and any necessary edits made, the homepage will be refreshed. It will be considered at this point that this layout will be largely complete and require only minor editing.

Clients are encouraged to submit all their content simultaneously. This results in quick, efficient development and the final result is usually superior to content that is submitted piecemeal. It also allows more time for final retouching and the website can be delivered ahead of time.

Our development fees include:

  • Conceptualization and interpretation of the website design based on the client's corporate livery;
  • Translation of the concept into graphic format;
  • Edits to this;
  • Choice of suitable code architecture for the client's website;
  • Conversion of MS Word text to HTML;
  • Laying out text content, editing of typos, usability practice;
  • Archiving, resizing, applying any effects necessary to supplied graphics and converting into web formats;
  • Research of similar websites to determine efficient title, description and keyword metatags and applying same to the website;
  • Modification of the above to suit individual pages.
  • Creation of search engine cue placeholders in the website code;
  • Insertion of search engine cues into the website code;
  • Advice to the client to optimize search optimization, usability and layout;
  • Creation and coding of the stylesheet for the website;
  • Any recoding and testing necessary to render the website compatible with current/late versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari for PC, IE.
  • Inclusion of any other client-side code (e.g. Javascripts) as necessary;
  • Development of the navigation system using usability best practice;
  • Final retouching and edits to the website;
  • Setting up of the FTP and uploading the files firstly to the staging server and later to the client's server;
  • Testing of the website in different browsers and making necessary changes;
  • Content management system and database driven websites: Access to the client's control panel and creation and population of the database.

Note: Only 5 sample pages/records are populated.

Linking to the client's website from other sites and to other sites that we have developed (for search optimization).

Once the client is happy with the website, final fees are payable including any late submission fees and options. Once these have been received it will be understood that the client has signed off on website.

The website files are then loaded to the final server and tested.

After Sales Support

We offer 30 days free support after publishing for minor changes, thereafter, if the client has not chosen a maintenance programme, edits and other attention to the website is charged on an ad hoc basis.

Scope Creep

Please read our terms and conditions.

Websites are notorious for suffering from 'scope creep' - changes in specification during development. Our quotation is an estimate of the development of your website.

We ask for 50% deposit which commits both ourselves and our clients with the balance and any extra charges payable immediately prior to posting.
